Hojicha is a Japanese green tea that is roasted at high temperatures, creating a warm, toasty flavor and naturally low caffeine content.
How it’s made
Starts from the same tea plant as matcha
• Leaves are roasted instead of shade-grown
• Then stone-ground into a powder or kept whole
Flavor Profile
Toasty & nutty, light caramel notes, smooth, mellow, no bitterness
Health Benefits
• Contains antioxidants
• Gentle on digestion
• Low caffeine supports relaxed energy
• 7–20mg caffeine
Matcha vs Hojicha
Both are finely ground green tea powders, but processed differently:
Matcha → shade-grown, not roasted
Hojicha → roasted, not shade-grown
Roasting changes both flavor and caffeine content
